Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
"A lot of the work we do with Sony aligns well with what we want to do and where we want to go. But yes, we are an independent studio and we are keen to bring our games to wider audiences."
Until Dawn creator Supermassive Games has expressed a desire to start creating content for platforms other than PlayStation.
The studio has been designing games almost exclusively for Sony since its inception eight years ago, but now company MD Pete Samuels says it's time to branch out.
"We’ve worked closely with Sony for as long as the studio has been around, so the past eight years," Samuels told MCV in a recent interview.
"I’ve loved it, they are great to work with and we have a strong relationship with them. I think a lot of the work we do with them aligns well with what we want to do and where we want to go.
"But yes, we are an independent studio and we are keen, going forward, to bring our games to wider audiences."
Since being founded in 2008, the Guildford-based developer has only twice released software on a non-PlayStation platform.
The studio’s close relationship with Sony has seen it create multiple batches of LittleBigPlanet DLC, and work on bigger console exclusives including Until Dawn and Killzone HD.
Supermassive is currently exploring the realms of virtual reality, and earlier this week bolstered its VR team with an impressive triple hire.
The studio’s first virtual reality titles, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and Tumble VR, will release exclusively for Sony’s PlayStation VR headset.
