Sales of the Nintendo 3DS fell in Japan again last week, but the handheld still held on to the top of the weekly Japanese hardware charts ahead of Sony's hardware. For the week ended October 9, data from tracking firm Media Create, and as reported by NeoGAF, shows that the 3DS sold a total of 53,540 units, down roughly 5,000 units compared to the previous week. In comparison, it nearly outsold the PlayStation 3 and the PSP combined, with 29,435 units sold for the former, and 26,780 for the latter. Both saw roughly the same unit sales as last week. The Nintendo Wii also saw no massive change in sales, with 10,080 sold in total. Nintendo's DS range continued to sell in the same unit regions as usual, with a total of 3,944 units over all three models. Media Create didn't report sales of the PSP Go this week, suggesting that sales were negligible - indeed, the ill-fated handheld only sold 14 units in the previous week. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended October 9, 2011. (The second chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware.)
