Atari has announced the release of Atari's Greatest Hits, a collection of more than 100 classic arcade and 2600 titles for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Boasting standouts like Adventure, Missile Command, and Centipede, Atari's Greatest Hits is distributed through a series of 99-cent game packs downloadable from a free core application. Users may also opt to buy the full 110 game collection, priced at $14.99. The app offers a single game, Pong for free. Each game included in Atari's Greatest Hits features its original cabinet or box art, along with other extras. Select titles (e.g. Warlords, Pong) also feature multiplayer gameplay over a Bluetooth connection. The multi-game release contrasts the approach many other developers have taken with the iOS App Store; companies like Namco and Taito previously opted for individual releases or remakes for classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Dig Dug. Also featured in Atari's collection are a number of well-regarded vector display games, including Major Havoc, Tempest, Black Widow, and Battlezone.
