Independent game showcase event Fantastic Arcade will return to Austin's Fantastic Fest film festival this month, show organizers announced Tuesday. The event will feature over twenty games showcased throughout the festival's four days, along with tournaments, panel discussions and special events. The festival will also play host to live developer commentary as they play their games live on screen. The following games will be on permanent display throughout the festivities: Capsized (Alientrap) Faraway (Little--Eyes) Fez (Polytron) FRACT (Phosfiend Systems) Jesus VS. Dinosaurs (Martin Jonasson, Petri Purho) Octodad (Team Octodad) Radical Fishing (Vlambeer) Skulls of the Shogun (Haunted Temple Studios) Other titles will also be showcased throughout the four days, including Zach Gage's Bit Pilot, Shadow Planet Productions' Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, among others. The event is being curated by Independent Games Festival chairman Brandon Boyer along with Mike Plante and Eddo Stern, and is sponsored by Sony's PlayStation Network. "Fantastic Arcade is a direct bridge between the worlds of independent gaming and genre filmmaking," said Plante. "Gaming and film both use genre and artistic style to tell stories and create memorable experiences that excite audiences around the world. These two mediums embody what the Fantastic Fest and Arcade are all about." Fantastic Arcade takes place September 22 through 25 in Austin, Texas. More information on the Fantastic Fest website.
