Newsbrief: Middleware company Autodesk has acquired Stockholm-based Bitsquid and its upcoming 3D game engine, with plans to bump up its game development offerings. The Bitsquid engine features Windows, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Android and iOS support, alongside multi-core scaling, data-driven rendering, and a lightweight code base. The engine is heavily focused on providing tools for devs looking to build games for next-gen hardware. A statement from Autodesk suggests that the current engine will be renamed and reworked to fit alongside Autodesk's current portfolio.
