Newsbrief: Rich Barham, an industry veteran who previously developed games at companies like Blizzard, Bethesda, Riot Games and Jagex, has founded a new multi-platform game studio in the UK. Octopus 8 Studios is owned by Barham, Mediatonic senior designer Justin Parsler, and Lady Shotgun designer Chris Cox. The studio aims to release its first game, a mobile title, later this year, and a second game in early 2014. Octopus 8 has a "breakthrough talent" policy, by which the team is aiming to hire mainly up-and-coming artists to work at Octopus 8, allowing them to potentially get a better foothold into video game development. The team believes that working with newcomers is a large part of evolving creativity for the future of the video game industry.
