Capcom's Next Licensed Mobile Game Based On Shrek Franchise

Capcom's mobile division Beeline Interactive is hoping to push forward with the success of its licensed mobile games, announcing that its next title will be based on Dreamworks' Shrek. Beeline was launched earlier this year, due in part to the success of free-to-play title Smurfs' Village, which had ridden high for Capcom in the top grossing apps charts on iTunes the year before. The company then continued its successful casual mobile gaming initiative with Snoopy's Street Fair, a title based on Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strip. Beeline has now seen more than 40 million downloads across the two titles. Shrek's Fairytale Kingdom, due for release in the first half of 2012 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, will see players expanding a village in the swampland by completing tasks for Shrek and other characters from the movies. Capcom said in a statement, "We here at Capcom are committed to the development of new and creative social games and plan to take the rapidly expanding mobile market by storm through our two-pronged strategy, 'Capcom' brand and 'Beeline' brand."
