Annual video game showcase Day of the Devs is heading back to the city by the bay, and organizers Double Fine and iam8bit are calling for developers to submit their projects and take part.

The GDC-sponsored event, which is returning for the fifth consecutive year, brings players and developers together for a celebration of the year's biggest indie hits.

Last year saw the submissions process opened up to the public for the very first time, and the free festival represents a golden opportunity for devs to get their games into the hands of players and peers.

The festivities will kick off on November 11, 2017, at The Midway in San Francisco. As well a smorgasbord of video games, there'll also be live music, food, drink, and all manner of fun things on offer.

"Day of the Devs 2016 was beyond epic," said Double Fine president and CEO Tim Schafer, "We had tons of awesome indie games featured -- several of which went on to win awards and even qualify for an Oscar. But that was only our fourth annual event.

"For the fifth year, we're going all out. We thought long and hard about how we could make Day of the Devs 2017 a festival for the ages, and we've come up with some surprises you're not going to want to miss."

The full game lineup will be announced in October, but in the meantime interested devs can submit their games by filling out this form. Submissions are expected to close by October 1st.

Day of the Devs has also previously hosted game showcases at the Game Developers Conference, & GDC is a partner for this year's event. Gamasutra and GDC are sibling organizations under parent UBM Americas.
