Tokyo-based social and mobile gaming giant DeNA announced today that it has acquired Chile-based developer Atakama Labs, best known for Facebook RPG Little Cave Hero. Atakama is DeNA's first subsidiary in Latin America, and will be looking to help DeNA expand on the development capabilities for its Mobage social mobile gaming platform. Apart from providing support for the Mobage platform, Atakama Labs will also provide engineering supporting for DeNA subsidiary ngmoco's first-party and third-party titles. Neil Young, director at DeNA and CEO of ngmoco, said, "Atakama Labs’ highly skilled engineers and experienced management team will be a great asset as we grow." "We are focused on bringing the world’s top talent together to deliver the best games on Mobage, the premier mobile social network." Last month, DeNA also revealed that it was looking to acquire the Vietnam branch of smartphone developer Punch Entertainment, adding around 50 staff members to DeNA's first-party team.
