Tokyo-based social and mobile gaming giant DeNA announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary DeNA Seoul has signed an agreement with Daum Communications, as a means of bringing its Mobage platform to Daum's web portal. The memorandum of understanding allows DeNA to launch its Mobage social gaming platform via Daum's portal for smartphones sometime in the first quarter of 2012. DeNA is looking to make use of Daum's 38 million registered users, as well as its mobile advertisement network -- currently the largest in South Korea, with over 10 billion monthly page views. Mobage Korea will also be promoted on Daum's websites and in its apps as part of the deal. In return, Daum will utilize DeNA's Mobage platform, delivering a number of its own gaming titles via the platform. Kyongwan Son, director at Daum, explained, "Through synergies with DeNA and domestic mobile game developers, we plan to build the nation’s top mobile gaming network." DeNA's Steven Yang added, "South Korea is an explosive market for smartphones and social mobile games and DeNA is excited to collaborate with Daum to deliver Mobage Korea to South Korean gamers."
