Newsbrief: DICE has confirmed the existence of a mobile version of its Frostbite game engine, noting that a number of Frostbite-powered mobile games are currently in development. While the EA-owned company is currently building Battlefield 4 using the new Frostbite 3 engine, a NeoGAF forum poster has spotted reference on the Frostbite website to "Frostbite Go" -- a mobile division at DICE that is bringing Frostbite to "all major mobile platforms." "Runtime in Frostbite supports a highly scalable model in order to appeal to the diverse array of platforms available on today’s market," it reads. "Efficiency in both our runtime memory and runtime performance are both key factors to enabling code and data systems to deploy content to diverse targets from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 to iOS and Android."
