Disney has announced Wreck-It Ralph, an upcoming CG comedy adventure movie that is set in a gaming arcade and will feature a cast of video game characters. Originally titled 'Reboot Ralph', the film follows an enemy in an arcade video game who wants to prove that he can be a 'Good Guy'. The 8-bit character attempts to show he can be a hero, but instead puts the entire arcade in jeopardy. Voice-actors for the movie include John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, while its been directed by The Simpsons' Rich Moore and produced by Disney's Clark Spencer. The movie is due for release on November 2, 2012. Director Moore explained, "I love the idea of a very simple 8-bit video game character struggling with the complex question: ‘Isn't there more to life than the role I've been assigned?’" "In his quest for the answer, we journey with our hero through three visually distinct video game worlds. It's unlike anything anyone's seen before, and I'm thrilled to be to creating it here at Walt Disney Animation Studios." Disney revealed last month that it will begin bundling some of its animated movie and TV show DVDs with the video games based on those properties in the UK in the next few weeks. A movie based on a strip from the popular Penny Arcade webcomic is also in the works, with Paramount Pictures bringing an adaptation to the big screen from the comic.
