EA and Digital Chocolate founder Trip Hawkins has received $6.5 million in Series A funding for his new game studio If You Can Company, through which he plans to release titles that support and empower children and parents. If You Can Company launched a preview iOS demo for its upcoming emotional intelligence game IF... earlier this week, with the aim to help kids develop through research-proven social and emotional learning skills. This round of funding comes from Greylock Partners, Almaz Capital and other investors. Greylock's David Sze will also join If You Can's board. Hawkins told Recode, "I did not want to do another new thing unless it really meant something."
