EA: Free PS3 Battlefield 1943 On The Way For BF3 Purchasers

Electronic Arts has confirmed that Battlefield 1943 will be included with copies of the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 as originally promised, stating that there have "been some misunderstandings." The company said earlier in the year that the PS3 version of the latest in the Battlefield series would come with a free copy of 2009 release Battlefield 1943. However, when the game was eventually released, Battlefield 1943 was not provided. EA then confirmed via Twitter that copies of the game would not be provided for free as originally stated. Following a lawsuit filed by firm Edelson McGuire on behalf of PS3 Battlefield 3 owners, stating that EA "misled and profited from thousands of their customers by making a promise that they could not, and never intended, to keep," the company has now said that copies of the digital game will be coming after all. "There have been some misunderstandings around Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield 3," the company said in a statement. "To address this we are making Battlefield 1943 available free of charge to owners of Battlefield 3 on the PS3 beginning this month." Using a special website that has been set up for the purpose of redeeming the free game, European gamers will be able to claim Battlefield 1943 on November 26 using the supplied Online Pass voucher. American gamers can use the website from December 10, while Japanese gamers will be able to claim the free game from December 17.
