EA Taken To Court Over Battlefield 1943 PS3 Promise

Electronic Arts is being taken to court after failing to provide copies of download-only Battlefield 1943 with PlayStation 3 retail copies of the new Battlefield 3, as it originally promised. The company said earlier in the year that the PS3 version of the latest in the Battlefield series would come with a free copy of 2009 release Battlefield 1943. However, when the game was eventually released, Battlefield 1943 was not provided. EA then confirmed via Twitter that copies of the game would not be provided for free as originally stated. The lawsuit, filed by firm Edelson McGuire on behalf of PS3 Battlefield 3 owners, states that EA "misled and profited from thousands of their customers by making a promise that they could not, and never intended, to keep," reports games blog Kotaku. The firm noted that it is looking to help PS3 owners receive the free copy of Battlefield 1943 as originally promised. Battlefield 3 was released last month, and sold more than 5 million units in its first week.
