Two former 2K Games designers have founded a new independent development studio with the aim to create "AAA quality" mobile and downloadable games. Uppercut Games is Andrew James, previously art director at Irrational Games/2K Australia, and Ed Orman, a designer at the same company. Together, James and Orman have 28 years worth of experience in the gaming industry between them, and have worked on the likes on Fallout: Tactics, Bioshock and the upcoming XCOM reboot. The pair have also revealed the first game set to be released under the Uppercut name later this year. Epoch is a combat action game set in a post-apocalyptic world, and coming to the iOS platform. The game's visuals will be rendered using the Unreal Development Kit, released by Epic Games at the end of last year. The studio also announced that it has received funding from the Digital Media Initiative, and is also currently working on another, as-of-yet unannounced project.
