[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest-growing Facebook games (according to monthly active users), looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.] The two fastest-growing games this week are both Zynga titles, Mafia Wars 2 and FarmVille. The former, which is the company's most recent release (not counting today's launch of CastleVille) and its first numbered sequel, takes the top spot. Debuted on Facebook in early October (it's also coming to Google+), Mafia Wars 2 grew 10 percent after recruiting 1.5 million new virtual mobsters, bringing its total monthly active user count to 16.8 million. The original Mafia Wars, though, is now down to 3.5 million players. FarmVille, which has stayed near to or at the top of the "Most Popular Games" chart for more than 2 years now, is still drawing in new players, picking up 1.2 million in the last week, a 4 percent increase, padding its total to now 30.3 million users. 6waves Lolapps' Ravenskye City is at #3 after gaining a million players in the past seven days. It has attracted some 7.2 million users since the recently merged developer launched the sim last month as a follow-up to its Ravenwood Fair game (3.1 million total). Bust-a-Move/Puzzle Bobble clone Bubble Witch Saga by King.com takes #4 with 600,00 new players (7.3 million total), followed by Kama's The Pokerist Club with 430,000 new users (1.1 million total), and Vizor/6waves Lolapps's Zombie Island with 400,000 new users (1.6 million total). DoubleDown's DoubleDown Casino (4.4 million total), Tetris Online's Tetris Battle (6.5 million total), Zynga's Word With Friends (11.5 million total), and Halfquest's Happy Farm (2.5 million total) welcomed around 300,000 new users and filled out the rest of the top ten.
