A group of developers from the recently-shuttered THQ studio Digital Warrington announced that they have formed Alien Apple Studios, a concept design company based in the UK. The company says it hopes to aid other studios in developing visual content for their games, spanning in-game assets such as vehicles and characters all the way to branding and marketing materials. The company was founded by several veterans of the former THQ studio, including art director Stuart Jennett, senior concept artist Paul Dolan, and lead UI and studio graphic designer Donna Jennett. "It’s exciting times for studios like us in the games industry, especially there is a long term change in the production model starting to emerge with outsourcing becoming the norm. As well as the big publishers, there’s also a boom in small independent studios again that hopefully we can provide for," said Jennett. THQ Digital Warrington previously developed titles such as the 2005 racing game Juiced and the recent downloadable title Red Faction: Battlegrounds.
