Framed creator Joshua Boggs has rebranded and relaunched his studio as RiffRaff Games following an undisclosed minority investment from Tencent.

RiffRaff, formerly known as MayDay, was established by Boggs in 2019 after the developer found success as the designer and director of Framed.

The new-look studio currently has two projects in development, including a third person stealth action game.

A press release described Tencent's cash injection as a "significant investment" and notes the Chinese company now has minority ownership of the studio.

RiffRaff is currently expanding with a view to hiring remote talent from around the world, and has recently appointed former PAX Global content director Guy Blomberg as studio director.

Founder Joshua Boggs said the studio is attempting to produce "clever, high concept titles with inventive mechanics," and said Tencent has been supportive of the company's "innovative roots."

The first of RiffRaff's two upcoming titles is slated to launch in 2022.
