Futuremark Games Studio, the development team behind space shooter Shattered Horizon, has announced its next project, a space defense title coming later this year. Unstoppable Gorg will see players defending the solar system against aliens by sending defensive satellites into orbit around planets, moon and space stations. Satellites can be moved around their orbits, so that they can be positioned in the best area for each particular wave of enemies. Futuremark believes that this mechanic "brings new vitality and interaction to the tower defense genre." The game's graphical style is a homage to sci-fi films from the 1940s and '50s. The title will be released for PC, Xbox Live Arcade and iPad. Futuremark's Jaakko Haapasalo explained, "With Unstoppable Gorg we have been inspired by classic sci-fi films to create a game of flying saucers, rubbery aliens, dodgy effects and earnest heroes." "Unstoppable Gorg builds on the core tower defense mechanics that fans love while shattering the genre’s conventions to provide exciting new experiences."
