Retail giant GameStop has launched a UK trade website as part of its worldwide expansion, with a number of European exclusive games set to be made available through the website. The move sees the Texas-headquartered company providing European consumers with both retail games and digital content and services through a dedicated UK website for the first time. The website will also offer consumers special editions of games that aren't available from any other retailer, including an upcoming edition of Assassin's Creed Revelations. Mike Mauler, executive vice president of GameStop International, explained, "GameStop's entry into the UK online market will provide consumers with more choices and exclusive content that they can't find anywhere else." "One of our European exclusives is for the anticipated release of Assassin's Creed Revelations Animus Edition, which will be available to UK gamers only through www.gamestop.co.uk." Earlier this week, GameStop began pre-selling downloadable PC games in its stores, with Deus Ex: Human Revolution the first title available under the program. An investor-focused report predicted recently that GameStop's new digital strategy will lead the company to grow to $1.5 billion in annual sales volume by 2014.
