George Romero, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Others Star In New Black Ops DLC

Noted horror film director George Romero will lend his likeness to a Call of Duty: Black Ops level inspired by his zombie film works, along with several well-known action and horror film actors. The new level, called "Call of the Dead," will be included in the upcoming Escalation downloadable content pack. In addition to Romero, actors lending their likeness to the grindhouse-inspired level include Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Robert Englund (A Nightmare On Elm Street), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Danny Trejo (Grindhouse, Machete). "This is Treyarch's tribute to the legendary George Romero, who truly defined the zombie genre and whose incredible work has been such an inspiration to our team," said Black Ops director Dave Anthony. "It was an absolute honor to work with such an amazing and talented cast whose passion and energy brought their characters instantly to life. Fans are going to love this." Romero is well known for his zombie films, which include Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead. This is not his first video game collaboration: a 2004 partnership with Hip Interactive resulted in a first-person shooter called City of the Dead, which was cancelled when Hip went under. A separate Romero-collaborated FPS -- Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green -- was developed by Brainbox Games and released in 2005.
