Newsbrief: Gunslinger Studios, which spun off from Industrial Toys earlier this year, has raised $1.4 million to develop competitive, minute-long games like its upcoming mobile RPG Exiles of Embermark.

Gunslinger Studios says that the funding gathered will go toward both the development of Exiles of Embermark and the creation of a technology platform geared toward eSports, live game operations, and community driven content.

According to Pocket Gamer, the $1.4 million investment came from multiple sources, including Chicago Ventures, Third Wave Digital, Gregory Milken, Rob Goldberg and others.

"We looked at what competitive gamers like us get all frothy crazy about then distilled that into a fiercely mobile game experience," said Gunslinger Studios CEO Tim Harris. "This funding lets us deliver that experience as well as the platform it's built on."
