Middleware creator Havok has announced that it will expand outside of the games industry with a new business devision focused on the military and simulation industries.
Video game middleware provider Havok will expand its business to support the military and simulation industries, according to a notice sent to Gamasutra. The company has launched a new Military and Simulation unit dedicated specifically to those industries, led by product management veteran Cory Kumm. "With more and more demand for Havok’s technologies in the Military and Simulation sectors, this initiative will enable us to address our customers’ needs with a dedicated business unit, while keeping our focus on developing leading game technologies," said Havok managing director David Coghlan. "We are very pleased to bring Cory Kumm on board to lead the business unit and we look forward to seeing Havok technology used in new and innovative ways.” Havok's suite of technologies include physics simulation, navigational AI, animation and behavior, and simulated destruction.
