Newsbrief: Twitch's live streaming service is now one of the most popular applications of streaming across the world, according to a new report from broadband network solutions company Sandvine. According to the new report, the Twitch.TV service has now established itself as one of the top 15 streaming applications across the globe. Overall, Twitch accounts for around 1.35 percent of all downstream traffic in North America, says the report. To give you an idea of how big it is, Sandvine says that Twitch now generates more traffic than the HBO GO video streaming service in the U.S. Of course, it's worth noting that HBO GO is a paid subscription service, while Twitch is free to view. This isn't hugely surprising, given that Twitch now has more than 1 million monthly active broadcasters and more than 45 million unique viewers a month.
