id Software's upcoming first-person shooter Rage has been delayed, and will now see a release in October later this year. Originally the game was set for release on September 13, but the official site now states that the game will release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 4 in the U.S. and October 7 in Europe. Rage was first announced back in 2007, and has already seen an iOS spin-off version released in November last year called Mutant Bash TV. Talking to Gamasutra at E3 earlier this week, id co-founder and lead programmer John Carmack said that the studio was concentrating on finishing id Tech 5-powered Rage and continuing work on the further-off Doom 4. id Software confirmed last year that it would no longer be licensing its internally-developed game engines to other companies outside of parent company ZeniMax Media, including its new id Tech 5 engine.
