Latest Monster Hunter Surpasses 250K First Week Sales In Japanese Charts

The updated HD version of Capcom's Monster Hunter Freedom 3 stormed the Japanese weekly software sales charts this week, selling over quarter of a million copies in the first few days on sale. For the week ended August 28, PlayStation 3 title Monster Hunter Freedom 3 HD Ver. sold 287,829 units in total, while last week's number one Rhythm Heaven had to settle for sixth position behind a handful of new releases, according to data from tracking firm Media Create and as reported by NeoGAF. The entire top five comprised of new releases, with Black Rock Shooter: The Game, Mobile Suit Gundam: New Giren's Ambition, Samurai Warriors 3: Empires and Dynasty Warriors 7: Special at numbers two to five respectively. Other new releases this week included Suite PreCure: Melody Collection, Durarara!! 3way Standoff: Alley and Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: Toki to Sekai no Meikyuu at numbers 12 to 14, and down at the bottom, Persona 3 Portable and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves at numbers 18 and 19. Nintendo didn't have as great a presence in this week's charts as it has in past weeks, with only four titles in the top 20. Despite its 3DS console still selling by the bucketload, Nintendo's 3DS software was scarce in the charts, with just two 3DS titles on display - Pokemon Rumble Blast and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
