Microsoft revealed today that it has acquired Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel Games "to help incubate and develop the future of game and entertainment offerings on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 platform." The Austin, Texas-based developer, which most recently released Kinect title The Gunstringer, will be looking to expand its offerings and innovation for Xbox 360 over the coming years. Founded in 2006, the studio has released a string of successful Xbox Live Arcade titles including The Maw and Comic Jumper. Twisted Pixel's co-founder Michael Wilford noted, "It is really exciting for us to solidify our long-standing relationship with Microsoft Studios." "As part of the family of Microsoft Studios we look forward to bringing even bigger and richer experiences to Xbox and Twisted Pixel fans around the world." Phil Spencer, corporate vice president at Microsoft Studios, added, "Twisted Pixel has an incredible track record of innovative, critically acclaimed, and most importantly, fun games."
