[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the most popular Facebook games according to monthly active users, looking at the top titles and developers on the social network to see who's attracting or losing players.] All of the top 20 games from the App Leaderboard's Games category two weeks ago return in our latest look at Facebook most popular games, with some slight variations on their placement and monthly active user counts. At the top again is Zynga's Sim City-esque CityVille, with 51.1 million monthly players, a drop from the 52.7 million it had when we last checked in. The Sims Social by Electronic Arts and Playfish remains at #2, also down from 36.5 million to now 32.8 million users. Five more Zynga games follow on the chart: Farmville at #3 with 30.7 million users (up from 29.1 million), then Texas HoldEm Poker with 30.3 million users again, and Empires & Allies with 19 million users (down from 19.6 million). After that there's Mafia Wars 2 with 16 million users (up from 15.2 million), and Words With Friends at 11.7 million users (up from 11.2 million). Wooga's Diamond Dash, jumping from #10 to #8, breaks the Zynga streak with 11 million players, up from 10.5 million. Closing out the top ten, we have Disney and Playdom's Gardens of Time at #9 with 10.2 million users, down from 10.5 million; then Wooga's Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move clone Bubble Island with 9.7 million users, a bump from its previous #11 position and 9.5 million. Outside of the top ten, Zynga's Adventure World, which seemed destined to be the next big game from the company, continues its descent since Facebook enacted changes in its user counting methodology -- the game is now at #11 with 9.5 million users, compared to #7 with 11.4 million two weeks ago. And RavenSkye City, the latest from 6waves Lolapps and a follow-up to Ravenwood Fair, has jumped from #18 to #14 since launching in early October, picking up 1.5 million users for a 7.6 million in the process.
