Both publishers received multiyear agreements, granting them the rights to use NBA teams and players in their games. They will also receive promotion for their titles through the NBA's various outlets, including NBA TV and NBA.com. EA is set to publish the next in its NBA Elite series later this year, NBA Elite 12, along with its arcade-style title NBA Jam, while 2K Sports, Take-Two's sports-focused subsidiary, will continue its NBA 2K series with NBA 2K12. Take-Two noted that last year's installment NBA 2K11 has now sold over 5 million units, up from four million sold in February. "We have had successful and longstanding relationships with both 2K Sports and EA Sports," said Sal LaRocca, Executive Vice President of NBA Global Merchandising.
