A new game publisher has been formed to serve the oft-ignored Arab market. Persian Gulf-based Red Stallion Interactive announced itself Tuesday, saying it would address the "growing appetite" for high quality games in the Middle East. The content of the games, which will consist of both licensed and original IP, will be rooted in Arab and Middle Eastern culture and influence, the company said. Targeted platforms include mobile and online PC games. Red Stallion "will hopefully fulfill a growing demand for interactive content that speaks to the cultural and entertainment habits of different international territories," said Dr. Mohamed Juman, the representative shareholder for Red Stallion holdings company Trans Technologies, which is funding the venture. "We will look to bridge the gap by focusing distribution of relevant and appropriately localized games and media," he continued. "As the face of interactive gaming evolves, Red Stallion will be at the forefront, leading the charge toward joining these forces and markets together." The Middle East is a fast-growing region for video game consumption. Just today Turkey's Peak Games announced a new round of funding to bring social gaming to the region. Japan's Gree has also had its eye on the Middle East, recently partnering with mobile social network mig33 to expand its content to emerging markets that include the region.
