Nintendo has announced Wii Fit U, a new entry for its huge-selling fitness franchise that targets casual audiences, that will release when the Wii U console launches. Since Wii Fit's debut nearly five years ago, the first-party series has sold more than 43 million copies around the world across Wii Fit and its Wii Fit+ expansion -- more than almost any other current generation franchise. As with the Wii titles, Wii Fit U will require the Balance Board peripheral, but it will also use the Wii U GamePad tablet controller, as well as a new clip-on pedometer accessory that tracks its wearer's movements and transfers data to the game. Nintendo also demonstrated how users can play Wii Fit U with just the tablet, if someone happens to be using the television. The game will offer new exercise activities and features. The company has not yet announced when the title will release or planned bundles.
