Newsbrief: After three years of litigation, American rock band No Doubt has reached a settlement with Activision over the group's appearance in the 2009 music game Band Hero, the Associated Press reports. No Doubt originally sued Activision because Band Hero allowed players to use No Doubt avatars to perform songs by other musical artists, while the group alleged it only gave permission for its likeness to be used alongside its own music. Activision denied No Doubt's claims and eventually filed its own counter-suit, and while the case was planned to go before a jury on October 15, both parties have decided to put the legal struggle behind them. The exact terms of their settlement were not disclosed. Courtney Love, the widow of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, sued Activision for a similar reason three years ago, claiming that Guitar Hero 5 misused her husband's likeness. Neither Activision nor Love, however, have released any updates on that case in quite some time.
