Oculus dev kit sales suspended in China due to 'extreme reseller purchases'

Oculus VR has confirmed that sales of the developer kit for its upcoming virtual reality headset have been suspended in China, due to "extreme reseller purchases." After a Reddit user complained that their order of the DK2 device had been cancelled for no apparent reason, Oculus customer service head Kevin Crawford jumped in to offer the reason why. "It is a bummer that we've had to suspend sales in China due to extreme reseller purchases," says Crawford. "We need to make sure that we are doing what we can to make sure that resellers that are looking to flip our product for a profit are not taking stock away from legitimate developer purchases globally." Crawford added that the company is currently "looking into alternative ways to make sure that our development kits are getting into legitimate developer hands in China." For the meantime, Oculus does not plan to cancel any orders from China, and says that sending kits out to Chinese developers is now "a priority." As for the number of reseller purchases that Oculus has witnessed in China, Crawford says, "We were forced to suspend an entire country from purchasing. I'll let you put 2 and 2 together."
