3D graphics company Nvidia has posted financial results for the third fiscal quarter, noting an increase in both revenue and profits year-over-year, thanks in part to "highly anticipated blockbuster PC games." As part of an investor call, the company noted that there was solid growth in desktop GPU sales, due to numerous big-name titles that were released over the three months, or are due to be released soon. Electronic Art's Battlefield 3 was named as a factor, due to its need for high PC specs. Other noted games include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. "We believe this surge of PC gaming demand will drive increased demand for NVIDIA's GeForce products despite the soft consumer PC market," said Nvidia's Rob Csongor. "We expect a multiyear PC gaming cycle, as the PC becomes increasingly more powerful than 5 to 6-year-old gaming consoles." For the quarter ended October 30, 2011, the company posted revenues of $1.1 billion, up compared to $843.9 million year-over-year. In terms of profits, the company saw income of $178.3 million during the third quarter, compared to $84.9 million in the same quarter last fiscal year.
