Bejeweled developer PopCap Games has signed an agreement with Amazon, noting that it will release its first two Android games exclusively on the Amazon Appstore in two-week slots. From tomorrow, Chuzzle will be available solely from Amazon's Android store, up until May 30. Tower defense classic Plants vs Zombies will also get an Android release later this month, again exclusively via the Amazon Appstore for two weeks. Both games will be completely free to download for the first 24 hours after release, and subsequently be given a list price of $2.99. After the exclusive periods, the games will then be available via the regular Android Marketplace. Giordano Bruno Contestabile, senior director of global product and business strategy for mobile at PopCap, explained, "Our relationship with Amazon is pivotal to PopCap's overall strategy in bringing a growing roster of mobile titles to the ever-widening base of smartphone users." "By making these titles available on the Android platform, we'll significantly extend the reach of our top franchises to legions of new mobile customers and gaming fans alike." Amazon's Aaron Rubenson said, "PopCap is a brand synonymous with great mobile games, and we're thrilled to offer our customers Chuzzle and Plants vs Zombies for Android exclusively through the Amazon Appstore."
