Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in a custom compiled list. This week brings Batman: Arkham City, The Sims 3: Pets, and Okabu to North America, while Dance Central 2 gets an early launch in the UK. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending October 22nd, 2011. Games Released in the United States: Rocksteady Studios' superhero-themed action-adventure game Batman: Arkham City headlines this week's domestic console lineup. A direct follow-up to Batman: Arkham Asylum, which multiple outlets honored as 2009's Game of the Year, Arkham City introduces a number of new villains, along with a selection of playable characters including Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman. A PC version will be released in November, with a Wii U port to follow in 2012. Other standout multiplatform releases set to hit store shelves this week include EA's The Sims 3: Pets, Ubisoft's guitar instruction title Rocksmith, and Activision's action figure-powered platformer Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. Portable offerings are slim, with Nintendo's Professor Layton and the Last Specter serving as a highlight. Trendy Entertainment's action-RPG Dungeon Defenders will launch as a downloadable title across multiple platforms this week, arriving alongside other notable digital releases like HandCircus' Okabu, Overkill Entertainment's co-op shooter The Heist, and a DSiWare version of Chillingo's iOS hit Cut the Rope.
