After expressing a hint of uncertainty following the devastating earthquake and tsunamis in Japan last month, Tokyo Game Show organizers confirmed that the September 2011 event will go on as planned, Japan-centric gaming website Andriasang reported Tuesday. There was reportedly some undisclosed damage to the Makuhari Messe convention center where the event is held, but repair work is underway. Power outages related to the natural disasters should not be a factor during the event, TGS organizer CESA said. TGS 2011 is set to take place September 15-18. Last week, TGS organizers said they were "not thinking of cancelling or making the show smaller" in light of the disasters, but added, "Depending on the situation from here on out, it is possible that the show is reduced." This year's event will host charity auctions in support of the Japanese quake relief effort, with more details coming at a later date. Organizers reported over 200,000 attendees for the 2010 Tokyo Game Show, making it the largest public exhibition of new and upcoming video games in the world.
