This figure far overshadows sales of the original Xbox console in Japan, which only managed to reach 500,000 units in its lifetime. The Xbox 360 saw a rise in sales last year in Japan, thanks to the release of a redesigned version of the console. Overall, the Xbox 360 has seen sales grow worldwide in the last year. The first three months of 2011 saw the console sell a record number, while Microsoft has revealed that it has sold over 55 million units in total.
