Reports from in and around EA Visceral Melbourne suggest that the studio may be closed as soon as Monday. Kotaku Australia cites an anonymous source at the studio who says management has told staffers that the studio will be shuttered on Monday, following the cancellation of a major project that had been in development for three years. The pending closure has also been corroborated by sources speaking to The Age's Screen Play Blog and to the IGDA's Melbourne chapter, though the latter source suggests the Monday meeting may simply be regarding eliminating redundant positions at the studio. The action-focused Visceral is based in Redwood Shores, CA, and also has offices in Montreal, Canada. The Melbourne studio has contributed work to projects including Dead Space, Godfather 2 and Dante's Inferno. EA was not immediately available for comment, but an EA representative contacted by Gamespot AU refused to comment on the reports.
