Former PlayStation exec Roberto Barrera has been hired as Netflix's "head of gaming strategy, planning, and analysis."

Barrera shared news of his hiring over on LinkedIn, where he stated that he hopes to help "elevate gaming through a unique offering that could only come from Netflix" using new tech and content.

Curious what made Netflix interested in PlayStation's former senior director of corporate strategy? Well he did also help with PlayStation's existing subscription streaming service PlayStation Now for nearly three of his eleven years at the company.

Those positions saw him leading PlayStation Now's strategy and business planning division, as well as the strategic analytics team behind the service.

Netflix's game offerings launched last November as a sub-section of the Netflix mobile app. Netflix's games division is run by Mike Verdu, who was hired by the company last summer.
