Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from April 28th, 2011, find Warner and NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat reboot outselling Valve's Portal 2 in North America, as El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron premieres as Japan's top multiplatform seller. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Multiplatform North America: 1. Active Life: Explorer with Mat (Namco Bandai, Wii), 2. Mortal Kombat (Warner Bros, X360). NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat reboot overtakes last week's multiplatform sales leader Portal 2 in today's domestic chart results. The PlayStation 3 edition of the game emerges as the most popular version, despite the PlayStation Network's continued outage. Elsewhere, Ignition's adventure game El Shaddai debuts at the top of the charts in Japan, while Portal 2 ends Zumba Fitness's weeks-long reign in the UK. Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Square Enix's rereleased Nier Replicant makes a strong showing in the Japanese charts, while Dragon Age II reports renewed sales activity in the UK. PC North America: 1. Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 3rd reclaims top honors in Japan, beating SCEI's premiering Patapon 3 and Banpresto's Super Robot Wars sequel Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen Z Hakai-hen.
