Sega has announced that classic RPG brawler Guardian Heroes will be re-released via the Xbox Live Arcade this fall. The game was originally developed by Treasure, and released in 1996 for the Sega Saturn console. This new release will see the original receive enhanced HD, widescreen visuals and all-new game modes, including Time Attack, Arcade and Arrange modes. New online modes will also be available, with online co-op and battle included. The games features 45 different playable characters, and a story mode that can be played either alone or with a friend. An updated Versus mode will allow up to 12 players to fight it out over Xbox Live at once. The game is set for a release later this year. Haruki Satomi, VP of digital business at Sega, said of the title's re-release, "Players have been clamoring for this treasured favorite from the Saturn days, and we cannot wait to show them what we have got for them."
