Sony Online Entertainment is planning to introduce a subscription service that will allow users to pay a single monthly payment to receive benefits in all SOE games. In a post on Reddit, SOE president John Smedley revealed the plan to offer a $14.99 monthly subscription to PC gamers, which will allow subscribers to play all subscription-based SOE games, and receive premium content in SOE's free-to-play games. This will include both current SOE like PlanetSide 2, and upcoming titles like EverQuest Next and EverQuest Next: Landmark. "That's a benefit most companies simply can't offer because they don't have our portfolio of games," he explained. "The goal would be to let you pick an item in each game you play." "Some of you might say 'Well who cares, I only play Planetside 2. How is that a benefit to me?" he continued. "My answer is simple - we've got a great lineup of games, some of which aren't announced yet that cater to a lot of players." The concept is very similar to SOE's current "All Access Pass", which allows users to pay one subscription fee to play most of the studio's games -- however, you still have to buy most of the base games with this pass, and not every SOE title is included. He noted that this new subscription model isn't locked down yet, but that SOE is "likely going to move forward" with it. It's also worth noting that it is only being considered for PC, as Smedley says, "We can't do the same kind of promotions as easily on the PS3 and PS4. We're a lot more limited because we can't use Station Cash [SOE's virtual currency] on there."
