Sony Computer Entertainment today launched a new video service for the PlayStation 3, which allows users to preview video content more easily from the PlayStation Store. Entitled 'Video Unlimited - Preview', the application can be downloaded from the store by PlayStation Plus subscribers in the U.S. and Canada. The application offers "a new, intuitive way to navigate and discover video content on PS3," according to a statement from Sony's Robin Schultz. Users can scroll through endless related search results that are already available from the PS Store, and choose to purchase or rent movies on the fly. From October 11, the new service will be opened up to all PlayStation 3 users, and no longer restricted to Plus subscribers. Earlier this year, an update to Sony's PlayStation 3 hardware quietly phased out a feature that left some users unable to watch high-definition Blu-ray video.
