Sony tight-lipped on Hirai's alleged promotion

In response to last week's report that Sony executive Kazuo "Kaz" Hirai was set to become the company's next president, Sony pointed out that it has made no such announcement, and that "nothing has been determined at this time."

Newsbrief: In response to last week's report that Sony executive Kazuo "Kaz" Hirai was set to become the company's next president, Sony clarified today that it has made no such announcement, and that "nothing has been determined at this time." According to the prior report, Hirai, a key player in growing the PlayStation brand, was to become the president of Sony Corporation as early as April, with current president Howard Stringer retaining his roles as both chairman and CEO. Time will tell whether Hirai will actually receive such a promotion, but for now, Sony has decided to keep quiet on the matter.
