Korean telecom provider Korea Telecom (KT) has licensed technology from Israel's Exent to launch a PC and mobile-based games-on-demand service in the region, including localized content.
South Korea's leading telecommunications provider is getting ready to launch a games-on-demand service. Korea Telecom (KT) announced a partnership with Israel's Exent on Monday, which will see the company launching a service based on Exent's GameTanium platform in the region. Versions of the unnamed service will be available on both PC and mobile platforms, according to the company, and will rely on Exent's existing library of hundreds of titles from its partners, including Atari, Konami, THQ and PlayFirst. The partnership will also see several Korean-language titles debuting on the service. Exent recently announced that its GameTanium platform will support mobile Android-to-television capabilities via the Vestel Smart Box, the first commercial product to bring Android titles to the television. Like all of Exent's partnerships, KT's platform will offer an "all-you-can-eat" subscription plan. Exent has provided similar subscription services to companies that include Comcast, Verizon, Turner Broadcasting (via its GameTap platform) and Phantom, among others.
