Sony Ericsson today announced a partnership with Square Enix, that will see the Japanese publisher bring a number of its established titles to the Xperia Play. Square Enix will release numerous titles via the Android Marketplace exclusively for the Xperia Play handset, starting with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light in November. The title was originally released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows and iOS last year. This is the first time the game will be released for an Android device. Ben Cusack, head of mobile for Square Enix Europe, explained that the company is looking to bring its most popular console titles to the mobile device. "This is just the start of what we plan to do together," he said, "but right now, we are delighted to be able to show off the full potential of our games with this innovative smartphone, bringing them to life as our creators intended." The Xperia Play was launched back in May, and is the first PlayStation-certified phone. The device comes pre-loaded with seven titles, including Asphalt 6: Adrenaline and The Sims 3.
