Standalone DayZ release sees remarkable day-one sales

DayZ, the zombie survival game that started as an Arma II mod, was released as a standalone game earlier this week, and subsequentally racked up 142,403 sales within its first 24 hours on sale.

Newsbrief: DayZ, the zombie survival game that started as an Arma II mod, was released as a standalone game earlier this week, and subsequentally racked up 142,403 sales within its first 24 hours on sale. The game has been a grand success story for designer Dean "Rocket" Hall, the creator of the original mod, and the project lead at Bohemia Interactive on this standalone version. Bohemia Interactive's CEO Maruk Spanel revealed the day-one sales figures on his blog, while Hall said on Twitter that the game was selling around 200 copies a minute at its peak.
