Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Popular country life RPG Stardew Valley has topped 41 million lifetime sales across all platforms.
That's according to a website post from developer Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone, who explained the milestone was surpassed in December 2024.
Offering more insight, Barone noted the title has sold 26 million copies sold on PC and 7.9 million copies on Nintendo Switch. It's unclear how many units, exactly, have been sold on console and mobile platforms such as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.
In February, Barone revealed his game had sold over 30 million copies, and said it was "thriving more than ever." At the time, Stardew Valley had turned eight years old and was about to receive its 1.6 update. When that update launched, the game hit an all-time peak of 236,614 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
Since its 2016 launch, Stardew Valley sales have continuously grown alongside its expansion to other platforms. While it's currently unavailable for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, it can be played on those systems via backwards compatibility.
Barone is currently developing Haunted Chocolatier, another simulation game based around running a candy store, while continuing to support Stardew Valley.
